Gotta Love Fox News!

I like this video, now let me tell you why.

1. Half way through the heavy set man says exactly what a "fair and balanced" news organization would say, that Occupy has the right to protest the people responsible for the financial crisis.

2. The main pundit in this video (the guy who's pic is in the attached thumbnail for the video) at one point says, "Well what about the sex scandals and crimes...?" Yes, what about them? Imagine we're a political party, would that make it different? To the afore-mentioned pundit it likely would seeing as he seems to feel "the right" must apologize before they can move forward. So I ask, what about the multiple scandals within BOTH major American political parties...from penis tweets to Solyndra, both political parties have scandals. Here's the catch, we're not a political party and the people who committed crimes within the parks are simpletons with no responsibilities to society as a whole other than to be a law abiding citizen. A president, a senator, a representative, a judge, these people are held to a higher standard. They make laws and therefore had better have an even high standard and sense of morality than the average citizen.

3. The final thing which stuck out to me in this video was when the lady pundit asks, "Where are the liberal women standing up for this sex crime? Why aren't they enraged over this?" Well, here's the irony. When Liberty Plaza (Zuccoti Park) was still in full swing, you know, before the police (mayor Bloomberg) threw away all the books, food, media, structures, clothing, blankets, and other resources, this same station was laughing at the movement's response in having a women's only sleeping area in an enclosed, large tent. They mocked it, scoffed at it, and said it was a pointless gesture which was demonstrating the lack of efficiency within the Occupy Movement. Yet when it's convenient, sparked over some 20-something's dumb ass Twitter comment, then the women in the movement suddenly have an extra mar on their record for not standing up for themselves when there were a few incidents in a park crowded by a variety of people. I believe there were a total of 5 major (still minor in the national scheme of things) drug/sex incidents in the few months before the camps' forced disbandment and yet these of course are the focus of this major news outlet (and likely others, fortunately I don't watch much television). Truly it is a John Stewart and Stephen Colbert gold mine in this video. Maybe I'll suggest it to their staff?

Southern Oregon Conservatives and Liberals Join to Protest NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act)

[By Occupy Medford]
EVENT DATE: Monday, February 13, Noon-1PM
PLACE: Vogel Plaza, Central Ave & Main St, Medford OR

On Monday the 13th at Noon in Vogel Plaza there will be a demonstration against the passing of the NDAA, including Wake Up America Southern Oregon, and Occupy Coalition of Ashland, Medford, and Grants Pass, as well as concerned individuals across the political spectrum.

The indefinite detention clauses (sections 1021 and 1022) within this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (signed into law December 31st, 2011) are a direct attack upon the civil rights of all Americans, and represent another step taken toward eroding the freedoms which lay at the foundation of our society.
The detention sections of the NDAA begin by "affirm[ing]" that the authority of the President under the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AMUF), a joint resolution passed in the immediate aftermath of the September 11th 2001 attacks, includes the power to detain, via the Armed Forces, any person "who was part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners," and anyone who commits a "belligerent act" against the U.S. or its coalition allies in aid of such enemy forces, under the law of war, "without trial, until the end of the hostilities...”(italics added). The text also authorizes trial by military tribunal, or "transfer to the custody or control of the person's country of origin," or transfer to "any other foreign country, or any other foreign entity." Occupation Records aims raise £20K in less that 2 weeks for Occupy label - but needs your help!
Hi and solidarity from Occupation Records,

We are the new label formed by people involved with Occupy London to help spread the message of Occupy and support the Occupy movement around the world. What we are doing has the potential to throw open doors by providing funding for Occupy projects around the world, getting the message out through worldwide distribution and creating a democratic alternative for an industry that has produced music that has influenced most of us in profound ways.

January 10th - Where's Walden? (Occupy the CD2)

I’m sure those of us involved in our district will remember an event which occurred just over a month ago. In Medford and Bend patriots gathered together to demand an audience with their district’s representative, Congressional District 2’s Representative Greg Walden. If you remember seeing it in the paper, watching it on the news, or hearing about it from your local community activist groups, then I’m certain you’ll remember 14 people being arrested for this request for representation.

December 31st - Occupy Medford in the Medford Library

OCCUPY MEDFORD
General Assembly Minutes
Saturday December 31st 2011
Medford Library

1). Open Forum:
            Foreclosures
Massachusetts is suing against illegal foreclosures; look at this as an option to bring to Oregon State. If we do choose to occupy foreclosed homes, we need to focus on how best to utilize that time for maximum support and exposure, while we are there. Occupy Portland had occupied a foreclosed home but were kicked out an hour later, not receiving much attention for their work.

December 25th - Merry Christmas

Merry Christma-hana-kwanzika!!!

Often times in Occupy we get caught up in the symbols and definitions of our culture, associating them with out of control greed, manipulation, or a number of other negative aspects of greed and corruption which we all wish to change. But! There are things we must remember!
